Rumors spread around today that Apple COO, and Steve Jobs successor, will leave Apple for Hewlett Packard's open CEO position. Shares were sent plummeting from low $290s to $275 in minutes as worried investors fled. This rumor is no doubt a market-maker scheme by Apple's short sellers who want to send the tech giant to its knees. For those who are more intelligent, please appreciate the humor. Who in their right mind would leave a Apple for HP? It isn't hard to figure out that this rumor is false.

Analysts suggest that the iPad will be a big international success. The first intentional iPad shipment has almost entirely been sold, and some analysts believe that the iPad could outsell the Mac this quarter.

Mike Abramsky with RBC Capital Markets said Friday that he believes between 600,000 and 700,000 iPads will be sold overseas in June, though the number could go even higher. If that forecast is accurate, it would well exceed the 500,000 Macs expected to be sold in June.

Apple's new iPad is so popular that supply shortages force the international launch date to be delayed until the end of May.

Although we have delivered more than 500,000 iPads during its first week, demand is far higher than we predicted and will likely continue to exceed our supply over the next several weeks as more people see and touch an iPad. We have also taken a large number of pre-orders for iPad 3G models for delivery by the end of April.

Faced with this surprisingly strong U.S. demand, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the international launch of iPad by one month, until the end of May. We will announce international pricing and begin taking online pre-orders on Monday, May 10. We know that many international customers waiting to buy an iPad will be disappointed by this news, but we hope they will be pleased to learn the reason -- the iPad is a runaway success in the U.S. thus far.
